Sally elected to executive of AVBIG

During the Australian Veterinary Association annual conference, May 2014, Sally was elected as an executive member of the Australian Veterinary Behaviour Interest Group (AVBIG). AVBIG comprises of both veterinarians with postgraduate behaviour medicine qualifications as well as general practice veterinarians who have an interest in behaviour medicine. AVBIG strives to improve understanding within veterinary practice and the community regarding a variety of issues with the aim to improve animal welfare. These issues can be many and varied, from the importance of treating diseases of emotional origin, to using an understanding of species perceptions and behaviour to decrease handling stress and trauma to animals through a wide range of industries, including our own veterinary industry. Keeping abreast of recent scientific knowledge on these and many other issues then sharing that knowledge with others is important to AVBIG in its goal of improved animal welfare.
